Firm Partner, Mary Wood was quoted in a recent Tax Notes article written by Lauren Loricchio, titled "Training Docs Suggest IRS Is Focused Only on Most Serious ERC Fraud." In response to the numerous scams and fraudulent activity regarding the Employee Retention Credit (ERC), the IRS has trained auditors to examine ERC claims and released training materials that indicate they are currently targeting only the most serious instances of fraud.  In reference to a checklist included in these materials, which lists 10 indicators of potential fraud, Ms. Wood states, "A concern for taxpayers is how many of the objective indicators of fraud will be needed to transform the examination into a clear indication of fraud..."
